Excavation work will be held in Erzurum in accordance with the statements of the witnesses in a joint project with Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Stating that Armenian partizans massacred 520 thousand of Turkish people, Director of Turkish-Armenian Relations Research Center, Associate Professor Erol Kurkcuoglu said that the excavation work that will be held in Erzurum will once again reveal the truth about atrocity of Armenians.

Reminding that Erzurum and surrounding regions were occupied by Russians in 1916, Kurkcuoglu said, "Following the withdrawal of Russian army from Erzurum and surrounding regions as a result of Bolshevik revolution, Dashnak gangs committed a massacre against Turkish people in the Tepekoy district. These also are told in the memories of Russian lieutenant colonel Tverdohlebof."

Stating that foreign scientists and journalists are also invited to Erzurum for the excavation work that will be held on June 15, at 7:00 am, Kurkcuoglu said, "The main goal of this project is to show the world that it was Muslim Turkish people who were massacred."
