Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov called on the international community to put an end to the occupation policy of Armenia.
According to the news service for Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, Mammadyarov at a meeting on Thursday with Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations European Fiorello Provera also stressed the importance to urge the world community to prevent the preservation of status quo in the Karabakh conflict.
The minister commended the adoption of the European Parliament’s May 20 resolution on the EU strategy for the South Caucasus, in which the EU has unambiguously supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and noted that the document sent to Europe is Armenia's open letter in which he expressed a desire to see certainty and stability in the South Caucasus.
In turn, F. Provera stressed the inadmissibility of attempts to change borders of a sovereign state by force in the 21st century.
The sides also discussed energy, trade and other issues of mutual interest.
