Head of the OSCE Office in Baku, Ali Bilge Cankorel hopes for a peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
'In conditions of continuation of talks it is difficult to speak of the use of the right for self-defense. We hope the conflict will be settled peacefully. The world would not like to see a new escalation of tensions in the region. This will not promote the conflict settlement”, said Cankorel speaking at the Strategic Research Center of the Azerbaijani president.
He said the leadership of Azerbaijan adheres to the peace settlement of the conflict and currently holds a constructive policy in this direction.
'The Karabakh conflict hampers the democratic development but, on the other hand, the problems with human rights protection cause conflicts as Karabakh', the diplomat said.
He noted that the conflict settlement depends on the stable development of Azerbaijan
The diplomat noted that the Karabakh issue is outside his mandate. But at the same time, expressing a personal opinion, he noted that always the country that is more favorable in terms of democratic development takes the most stable position in the negotiations on the conflict settlement.
'A new list of venues for actions, meetings in Baku was already drawn', said also Ali Bilge Cankorel.
He said it included 11 venues, which were located not only outskirts, but in the center of the city as well.
'There are venues suggested by the opposition alongside with the places allowed by the Baku City Executive Power. The list is based on the principle that there should be at least a venue in every district'.
