Director of Turkish-Armenian Relations Research Center at Ataturk University (AU), Associate Professor Erol Kurkcuoglu said, "Our scientific excavation work is being continued.
We will reach to the bodies of our martyrs very soon." Associate Professor Kurkcuoglu said that the excavation work being held in Tepekoy, at 8 kilometers distance to Erzurum, is being continued. "We aim to reach bodies of the victims that massacred by Armenians. Up to now, we have found bodies of 5 people" said he.
Kurkcuoglu said, "We found kitchen tools and pieces of damaged holy Qoran. The graves are settled deep under the ground. Besides the massacre, here are traces of burning. We know that we will find several evidences here. The people that are massacred here are the local people of the district. We are continuing the scientific excavation work and we will reach to the bodies of the martyrs very soon."
Stating that nearly all households in the Tepekoy district lost someone during the massacre, Kurkcuoglu said, "We know that a massacre had happened here at exactly on this point due to the statements of Hurrem Sefa. Hurrem Sefa passed away in 1977 but he was the one who told about the massacre in the village. Today we are struggling to prove these scientifically. We already found 4-5 mass graves as a result of first analysis. Armenian gangs massacred Turkish people in their own village. The researches show that the people of the village did not have arms to resist Armenian gangs. The attack is held against innocent people."
