E-mail Print PDF

One of the efficient Armenian diaspora organizations in United States, Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) sent a letter to the U.S. Congress, accusing Turkey of applying double standards to United States.

Claiming that Turkey ignores national interests of USA, ANCA's letter stated that Turkey does not have right to dictate U.S. officials to reject recognition of so called Armenian genocide.

The letter that is written by ANCA's executive director Aram Hamparian claims that Turkey applies double standards to United States "as Turkey follows a foreign policy that ignores U.S. national interests" and at the same time urges American officials to not to pass H.Res.252. Calling attention to Turkey's vote in the United Nations Security Council regarding to the sanctions against Iran and Turkish criticism against Israel following the Israeli raid against humanitarian flotilla, Hamparian wrote that Turkey ignores U.S. interests since the year 2003, when Turkey rejected to let U.S. troops use Turkish territory to open a northern frontline for the war in Iraq. "Turkey’s leaders reserve for themselves the freedom to act with complete disregard for U.S. interests, allies, and values, even as they dictate to us what we are allowed to say about the Armenian Genocide," Hamparian wrote.
