California Rep. Adam Schiff (D) wrote a letter to circulate in U.S. House of Representatives, urging collegues to join 143 representatives that sponsor H.Res.252, so called Armenian genocide resolution. In his letter entitled "Now it is time to recognize the Armenian genocide", Schiff gave space to Armenian allegations regarding to 1915 incidents and claimed that one and half million Armenians were dead and the world's oldest Christian nation had been shattered. Calling U.S. House members to characterize 1915 incidents "properly", Schiff claimed that the most of world historians agree that incidents constitute a genocide. Stating that United States avoided to recognize Armenian allegations to not to harm relations with Turkey, Schiff wrote, "Given Turkey's recent behavior, this Congress needs to reevaluate whether we should continue to dishonor the dead to placate a false friend."

Accusing Turkey even over the Israeli military raid against humanitarian aid ship in international waters, Schiff said, "When the international community, including Russia and China, pressed ahead with a new round of sanctions (against Iran), Turkey was one of only two votes against the plan in the Security Council." Calling for attention on the crisis between Turkey and Israel, Schiff claimed that Turkey under Prime Minister Erdogan's government initiated an attack of criticism against Israel.

"This is not the behavior one expects from a friend, and Turkey can no longer be allowed to work against us in numerous international fora, but then assert that our “alliance” cannot withstand an expression of remembrance for one and a half million souls," Schiff wrote in the letter.
