Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan stated that they do not believe that progress will be achieved in the relations between Turkey and Armenia. "Because of Turkey's current policy, we do not believe there will be progress in the relations between Turkey and Armenia," said he.

Making a visit to Germany, Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan met with German Prime Minister Angela Merkel in Berlin. Armenian President said that they have discussed Nagorno-Karabakh problem and the process of normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations at the joint press conference. Stating that it is not possible to mention of relations between Turkey and Armenia, Sarksyan said, "The protocols we signed within the frames of the efforts towards rapprochement are not yet ratified in the Turkish Parliament. Therefore they are also not ratified in the Armenian parliament. Because of Turkey's current policy, we do not believe that there will be progress in the relations between Turkey and Armenia."

"A strong political will is required for the normalization of the relations between two countries, while we cannot see it on the Turkish side," Sarksyan claimed, Turkish Anadolu Agency reported.

German Prime Minister also stated that they have discussed Nagorno-Karabakh problem and Turkey-Armenia relations besides bilateral relations. "We believe that there will be progress in the relations between Turkey and Armenia if Nagorno-Karabakh problem is resolved," Merkel said. Underscoring that efforts towards Turkish-Armenian normalization have lost acceleration, Merkel said, "We are hopeful that negotiations will gain acceleration again."
