Press secretary of Armenia's ruling Republican Party, Edward Sharmazanov told the press on Tuesday that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statements that he never got an answer to his letter to former President Robert Kocharian are not true. News.am reported that Sharmazanov refuted Erdogan's statements saying, "He certainly got a reply, saying that it was an intergovernmental issue outside the framework of historical research."

Accusing Turkish PM Erdogan of lying, Sharmazanov said that the statements of Erdogan that he had no response to his letter to Kocharian which included a proposal to establish a committee of historians to investigate 1915 events, are not true.

Reacting also to the Turkish efforts towards resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem, Sharmazanov said, "Turkey struggles to connect Turkish-Armenian relations to Karabakh problem and Karabakh problem to "Armenian genocide"." Stressing that they are not going to discuss so called Armenian genocide with Turkey, Sharmazanov said, "We are sparing no efforts for the international recognition of genocide."
