Organization for Fighting Against Baseless Armenian Allegations (ASIMDER) in Igdir drew up a petition to Minister of National Education Nimet Cubukcu asking Ministry to inspect Armenian schools.
Goksel Gulbey, Director of ASIMDER wrote in the application letter that Halki Seminary raised many Orthodox churchmen since 1844 until it was closed in 1981 with the regulation of board of higher education. "Makarios, who ensenguined Cyprus, was one of the students of that school," said he."Our organization is concerned about the number of Armenian schools. As it is explained above, it is proven with experience that these schools participate in political activities," the letter reads. Stressing that these schools may not be so independent of the influence of Armenian diaspora which does not spare efforts to provoke international community against Turkey, Gulbey asked,
1 - Are all these children who studies in these schools are our Armenian descent citizens?
2 - Are the books that are being used in these schools being checked by the Ministry of Education?
3 - Do these schools make propaganda out of course hours? Are the students thought anything else before they go to bed? Is there a control mechanism to check that?
4 - Do these schools educate other nationals except Turkish and Armenian students?
5 - Do these schools make the propaganda of "genocide"?
