Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the decision of European Parliament on Azerbaijan, Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh problem.
Holding a joint press conference with Bulgarian President Georgi Piranov, Azerbaijani President said, "Azerbaijan welcomes the fair decision of European Parliament. The decision gets to the bottom of the problem and includes concrete proposals towards removal of occupying forces from Azerbaijani lands."
Reminding that Azerbaijani lands are under Armenian occupation since long years, Aliyev said that one million Azerbaijani people had to leave their homeland and became refugees because of the ongoing occupation. Stressing that Azerbaijan is towards resolution of the problem with respect to the decisions that international organizations and within the frames of international norms. "The decision that European Parliament issued has strengthened the position of Azerbaijan," said he.
The European Parliament decision (May 21) related to strategy of European Union for South Caucasus called Armenia to withdraw troops from Azerbaijani lands.
