65 young musicians from Turkey and Armenia are getting prepared for a concert that will feature a repertory that includes artworks of the musicians from both countries.
Under the leadership of Shefler Nvart Andreassian and Cem Mansur, Turkey-Armenia Youth Symphony Orchestra will give a concert at Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall on July 16, at 20:30.
The concert, which is held by Istanbul Culture Art Foundation, Anadolu Kultur and Bogazici University, will feature to the artworks of Ulvi Cemal Erkin, Aram Hachaturyan and Bedrich Smetana besides Beethoven and Bizet. The concert will be held with the contributions of Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul and the support of Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture.
Istanbul born conductor Nvart Andreassian's project of creating a joint orchestra is brought into practice with the cooperation of Turkish conductor Cem Mansur. As Nvart Andressian chose Armenian musicians from the conservatories in Armenia, Cem Mansur repated the same process in Turkey. Conductors created Turkish-Armenian Youth Symphony Orchestra by selecting 65 Turkish and Armenian skillful musicians.
Following its appearances in Istanbul, the orchestra will also perform in Armenia.
