"Return 7 Regions Back To Azerbaijan"

E-mail Print PDF

"Aiming to gain Azerbaijan's support against Iran, U.S. Administration prepares to press Yerevan for resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh problem," Turkish Hurriyet daily wrote, "U.S Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who will be in Azerbaijan today, will call Armenia to withdraw troops from the regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenians may make steps regarding this call."

Stressing that U.S. administration aims to press parties of the conflict, Hurriyet referred to the statements of Chairman of European Armenian Unions Forum, Ashot Grigoryan over the recent declaration of American, French and Russian Presidents on Karabakh conflict and wrote, "According to the declaration of OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs, Armenia should withdraw military troops from the seven regions surroınding Nagorno-Karabakh. That will be the first file that Hillary Clinton will put on the desk of Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan. Sarksyan has already announced that he welcomes the statement if the security of Nagorno-Karabakh is assured. Which means that Armenia is ready to fulfill Azerbaijan's 'sine qua non' demand".

Obstacle for Protocols Process to be Removed

"The regions around Nagorno-Karabakh; Agdam, Kelbajar, Lachin, Cebrail, Fuzuli, Qubatly and Zengilan are under Armenian occupation since 1993. Armenian administration accepts to withdraw from the regions except Lachin in principle. On the other hand, it demands the Lachin corridor, which connects Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh region, to be left for the control of international observers. Political analysts consider that Turkey-Armenia protocols process may revive if progress could be achived in Nagorno-Karabakh problem. Turkey-Armenia protocols were removed to refrigerator three months ago to be kept frozen until appropriate conditions are met," the newspaper wrote.

 The Main Target is Iran

"United States' efforts to persuade Azerbaijan regarding Nagorno-Karabakh problem is connected to U.S. foreign policy against Iran. Debka.com claimed that United States has started to deploy its war planes in Azerbaijan and Iran is afraid of an attack which may come from north," newspaper wrote.
