Aliyev calls Clinton to assist Azerbaijan for the resettlement of Azerbaijani-Armenian Conflict

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku. Aliyev asked Clinton to assist Azerbaijan for the resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh problem in the basis of international law.

Responding to Aliyev's statement, Clinton said, "We cannot solve the problem. But we can hold a dynamic mediation between the parties of the conflict."

Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was the major clause of the agenda of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during her official visit to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said during the meeting that Nagorno-Karabakh problem is the biggest problem of Azerbaijan. "We are hopeful that US administration will assist us in the resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh problem within the frames of international law," Aliyev said.

Clinton said that resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is also one of the priorities for the United States. According to the report of Hurriyet, Clinton and Aliyev discussed the issue of ongoing Armenian occupation in Azerbaijani lands. "United States is towards peaceful resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We are against military intervention. United States cannot solve the problem but it may assist parties to reach an agreement. We are ready to mediate between parties more dynamically."

Azerbaijani administration announced several times that Azerbaijan may use force to liberate Nagorno-Karabakh if the West and Russia continue to be unsuccessful on convincing Armenia to end occupation.
