According to the report of the official web site of French Senate, the bill penalizing denial of so called Armenian genocide is brought on the agenda of the senate.

French Parliament passed the bill on October 12, 2006. The bill should be ratified by French Senate and signed by President before it can take effect. According to the report of PanArmenian.Net, the bill envisages 1-year imprisonment or fine of an amount of 45,000 Euros for denial of Armenian allegations regarding 1915 incidents in Ottoman Empire.

The bill, which was passed from the French Parliament in 2006 with the support of 110 parliamentarians, was not brought on the agenda of the Senate to avoid harming Turkish-French ties.

The bill is introduced into the constitutional committee of the Senate on July 5 by 31 senators.
