'Part of the political and public elite of Armenia is quite skeptical about the Madrid principles.'
Within the framework of public debates with Azerbaijani expert Rasim Musabeyov at the 1news Club of Political Discussions, political scientist Stepan Grigoryan (Armenia) has presented his arguments regarding Rasim Musabeyov’s opinion on the discussed issues.
“In this issue, I agree with Mr.Musabeyov with some terms. Indeed, a part of the political and public elite of Armenia is quite skeptical about the Madrid principles and other variants of the Karabakh conflict settlement.
Probably among them are politicians and public figures that are not inclined to compromise or waiting for the Azerbaijani oil “to end”, but I am sure that they are minority. It is obvious that a greater part of Armenian political and public elite is negative on the proposed variants of the Karabakh conflict settlement by clear and prosaic reasons. Indeed, which resolution of the Karabakh conflict is implied, if we and the residents of Karabakh hear threats from Baku almost every day.
Most do not believe that the peacekeepers deployed in the region of the Karabakh conflict (it is currently unclear which countries will present their peacekeeping troops yet) will be able to ensure security of NK Armenians after the withdrawal of self-defense forces from the lands around Nagorno Karabakh.
