E-mail Print PDF

The Armenian-Turkish conflict is based on fear that should be overcome, German director of Turkish origin Fatih Akin told the reporters on Tuesday.

According to him, cinema is the power that can overcome the fear, as once rock and roll did. The director recalled “Fear Eats the Soul” film by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, saying many souls were eaten in Turkey because of fear. He noted that fear should be overcome to normalize the Armenian-Turkish relations.

He is confident that once the problems will be solved. “I hope I will be also able to see it,” the director said.

Fatih Akin has arrived in Armenia to participate in the Golden Apricot International Film Festival. Today, “Soul Kitchen” (2009) by Fatih Akin will be screened in Yerevan.
