Armenia says transfer of Lachin and Kelbajar never discussed with Azerbaijan. Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian has dismissed the statement of Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyaorv about the discussion of the transfer of Lachin and Kelbajar regions with Azerbaijan.
The indicated regions are a “corridor” between Armenia and Karabakh and are controlled by the “NKR” Defense Army.
Mammadyarov said earlier that the liberation of Kelbajar and Lachin will be discussed during the meeting with Nalbandian that is planned within the framework of the OSCE ministerial meeting in Almaty on July 16-17. He said this issue has been discussed by the parties for many years.
“This is completely untrue. The Armenian side has never discussed the transfer of Lachin and Kelbahar under administrative control of Azerbaijan”, the statement says.
He added that this issue was not discussed during the meeting of the presidents of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan in Saint Petersburg held on June 17 of this year.
During the trilateral meeting of the presidents, the sides discussed proposals on the resolution of the Karabakh conflict which were called “the Saint Petersburg proposals”.
Baku: It is Difficult to Hold Talks With Armenia
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has commented on the false statements of Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian.
Spokesman for Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Elkhan Polukhov said it is difficult to hold talks with the Armenian side that easily rejects its words.
"The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia are expected to meet in Almaty tomorrow to discuss the whole specter of issues on the resolution of the Karabakh conflict. We hope that this meeting the Armenian side will not reject its words and promises", Polukhov said.
