Azerbaijan’s FM has commented on results of meeting with Armenian counterpart held within framework of the OSCE foreign ministers’ council in Almaty.

'Azerbaijan regrets about the failure to pass decision in 3+2 format', Azerbaijan’s FM Elmar Mammadyarov said during the joint news conference with Ukrainian FM Konstantin Grishenko commenting on Armenia’s position torpedoing a decision based on proposals of the OSCE MG co-chairs regarding the liberation of the occupied Azerbaijani regions around Nagorno Karabakh'.

Azerbaijani FM E.Mammadyarov also considers that the liberation of Azerbaijan's occupied lands is needed to change the situation.

Armenia should realize that nonconstructive approach to the Karabakh conflict settlement leads nowhere.

'First of all, if Armenia withdraws its troops from the occupied lands (around Nagorno Karabakh), the situation will change, borders and communications in the region will open. We want the achievements in the conflict settlement and we understand that this is difficult for both conflict parties including Armenia and Azerbaijan', the Azerbaijani FM said.

'As for the 'right of people for self-determination', Armenians already have Armenia, while Nagorno Karabakh can be granted autonomy within Azerbaijan', Mammadyarov said.

During a joint news conference with the Azerbaijani foreign minister, Ukrainian FM Konstantin Grishenko said Ukraine is preparing for the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

The eighth session of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine will be held in Ukraine before the visit of the head of the state.

Also Grishenko said the second session of the council of the presidents of the two countries will be held within the framework of President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Ukraine.
