The Azerbaijani embassy in France has demanded that Arte TV take what it describes as a one-sided film about Karabakh off air and off its website.
Sources in the Azerbaijani embassy in Paris say that they have already protested at the channel's film Haut Karabagh: Gomchassar, 1 news.az reported.
Embassy officials asked for the film to be taken off air and off the Franco-German channel's website.
"We said in our letter to the administration of this TV channel that such one-sided films would not promote a resolution of the conflict.
"When Azerbaijan is suffering the occupation of part of its land by Armenia and has about a million refugees, the broadcast by Arte TV of material that does not reflect the reality of the conflict challenges the impartiality of this channel. This film may have been made under the influence of the Armenian lobby," the sources in the embassy said.
The Azerbaijani embassy in France has invited journalists from Arte TV to Azerbaijan to make an unbiased film on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"We demanded that the TV channel take a balanced approach to the Karabakh issue and invited them to Azerbaijan. We are currently waiting for their response to our proposal," the embassy official said.
Haut-Karabagh: Gomchassar is part of an Arte series on Mountains of the World.
A French-language three-minute clip from the 40-minute film can be seen on the Arte website. It gives a simplified, Armenian view of the conflict over the territory.
The voice-over presents Karabakh as Christian land - "The Soviet authorities integrated this Christian Armenian land into Muslim Azerbaijan" - without mention of the historic mosques of Karabakh or the centuries of the Karabakh khanate.
