Leader of Karabakh Separatists Comments Verdict on Kosovo

E-mail Print PDF

Separatist Nagorno Karabakh hails the verdict recognizing Kosovo returned by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

“If the recognition of Kosovo’s independence by the World Court contributes to the NKR’s international recognition, we can only welcome it,” stated 'NKR' President Bako Sahakyan.

He also stressed the necessity for a balance stance on the verdict “The 'NKR' and Armenia must voice the same opinion,” the 'NKR' leader said.

The ICJ ruled on July 22 that the Kosovo authorities’ decision to declare independence in 2008 did not violate international law.

The ICJ verdict has no binding force. However, experts and politicians are sure the verdict will have political consequences.
