ATAA Eastern Region VP and member of Diaspora Advisory Board at the State Ministry of Turkish Republic, Ali Cinar told Turkishny.com that Armenian diaspora aims to cause sensation through the lawsuit which is filed against Turkish state owned banks Ziraat Bank and Central Bank.

Reminding that Armenia halted the process of ratification of protocols which was signed with Turkey, Cinar said, “Armenian diaspora does not seek ways to reconciliate with Turkey. The lawsuits that Armenian diaspora filed against Turkey in California will not bring any results.” Stressing that the decision of a local court would not obligate Turkey, Cinar said, “If they really  believe in their cause, why do not they file the same lawsuit in an international court?”

Reminding that 9th Federal Court of Appeals had canceled the state law recognizing so called Armenian genocide, which was made by the state of California in 2000, Cinar said, “Federal Court avoids to make decisions that might affect US foreign policy negatively."

Stating that Armenian diaspora has forgotten that the treaty of Lausanne limited the period of applying for compensation for the liquidated damages, Cinar said, " Therefore, new demands of compensations became barred. The vain attempt of Armenian diaspora will just damage Turkish-Armenian ties."

“The lawsuits filed against Turkish banks will not bring Turkey any obligation and they just aim to bring the issue on the political agenda and to transform the issue into a show,” said Cinar.
