Ankara does not confirm or refute the information spread by Armenians that Turkey will open borders with Armenia within NATO trainings.
According to sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry, nothing is clear yet. But it is also known that the Turkish foreign minister told earlier that the border with Armenia will not open without the resolution of the Karabakh conflict.
The information spread in Armenian mass media that the border between Armenia and Turkey will open within the framework of NATO trainings.
According to spokesman for the Turkish FM Selchuk Unal, this will become clear after discussions. “I do not think this will be like that. It is necessary to hold investigation. Time will show how we will act. This issue must be considered separately, since it is related to NATO. I would like to repeat that nothing is known yet”.
Azerbaijani political scientist Rasim Musabeyov considers that if something of the kind happens, Azerbaijan should not be concerned about it: “I can say that this is possible as a single-time event. This may occur depending on the conditions Armenia sets to Turkey within the NATO trainings”.
However, the long-term opening of borders is possible only after the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, therefore, Azerbaijan cannot yield to Armenian propaganda. “The presentation of this issue by Armenia as a long-term opening of borders is natural since their first wish lies in causing a quarrel between Turkey and Azerbaijan. They cannot be given such an opportunity. In this connection, our reaction must be coldblooded”.
