'Armenia-Russia military, strategic cooperation part of Armenia’s national, state security.'
“Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev’s three-day visit to Armenia is very important in terms of the development of Armenia-Russia strategic relations. I also think that the main issues to be raised will be the signing of a deal on extension of terms for establishing Russian military bases in Gyumri, as well as an agreement on expanding the functions of the same base to ensure regional, military security,” NA deputy, Armenian Republican Party (ARP) secretary Eduard Sharmazanov told Panorama.am, commenting on Russian President’s upcoming Armenia visit.
According to him, ARP signifies security system and Armenia-Russia military, strategic cooperation is part of Armenia’s national and state security.
“I highly evaluate it and find that it is among our national and state interests. Russian President’s Armenia visit shows that Russia has positive attitude to Armenia, and Armenian authorities have been conducting balanced and initiating policy for the recent several years. Armenia’s policy in both Karabakh issue and Armenia-Turkey relations has been comprehensible for Russia,” Sharmazanov said.
