Switzerland Punished Turks For 'Genocide' Denial

Swiss court sentences 3 Turks over denial of Armenian thesis regarding 1915 incidents in Ottoman Empire.

Switzerland imposed a fine and sentence on three Turks for denial Armenian allegations and calling it an international lie in a public speech. The claim was brought by Sargis Shahinyan, Chairman of “Switzerland-Armenia” Union.

Armenia based Panorama.am reported that Ali Mercan and two others were found guilty in violating “The Law about Preventing Racism” and are obliged to pay 30 thousand Swiss francs as well as are facing 150 days’ imprisonment. The verdict was appealed by the Turks, however, Swiss Federal Court confirmed the legitimacy of the verdict.

Ali and his friends are intent to go to the European Court of Human Rights, according to Sondakika.

Denial of the 'Armenian genocide' is punished by law in Switzerland.
