Turkish President: Existing Situation In South Caucasus Meets Nobody's Interests

The existing situation in the South Caucasus region meets nobody's interests, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said in his remarks during the opening of the Grand National Assembly's (parliament) fall session.

“That is why Turkey continues efforts to solve problems of both itself and Azerbaijan with Armenia.”

Gul pointed out his country also makes efforts to contribute to solving the Middle East and Iran problems. He underlined Tehran's problem on the nuclear program should be settled through the International Atomic Energy Agency. “At the same time every country should respect Iran`s peaceful nuclear activity,” he added.

Gul said Turkey well remembers the developments occurred in Iraq ten years ago and does not want any war to be happned near its borders.
