Azerbaijan, Armenia Should Reconcile, Gordon

The deputy secretary of state has clarified US position regarding normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations.

'We want both countries to ratify problems and execute them',  said US Assistant Secretary of State on European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Gordon, answering journalists question on the Armenian-Turkish reconciliation at the Center of Transatlantic relations of the Center of International research Paul Henry Nitze.

According to Azerbaijan's Voice of America, he said 'we believe this step will promote peace and stability in the Caucasus. But this (the ratification) has not occurred. And we regret this. Probably, necessary conditions for this will appear in the future', he said.

According to Gordon, both Armenia and Turkey and Azerbaijan and Armenia must reach reconciliation. 'This reconciliation is of great importance for the United States', he said.
