The international dynamics on the Karabakh conflict are postive for Azerbaijan, according to political scientist Rasim Musabeyov.
"It is no secret that the Armenians have managed to get the international community to accept their interpretation of the Karabakh conflict which is profitable for them and does not correspond to historical truth and international law," Musabeyov, who is also a parliamentary candidate, said in an interview with 1news.az.
He said that, as a result, the Armenians who were the aggressors in the conflict, who occupied Azerbaijani land, drove about a million Azerbaijanis out of their homes and stole their property, presented themselves as victims and Azerbaijan as the responsible party.
"But the situation has changed significantly recently. Azerbaijan increased diplomatic and propaganda work and the truth will come out. I cannot say that there has been a profound turning point in the world's understanding of the essence of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, but the dynamics are positive for us and effort should be stepped up," he said.
Asked whether the resolution of the Karabakh conflict as soon as possible would meet the interests of Armenia, which has isolated itself, Rasim Musabeyov replied: "If you imply Armenians as a society, this is naturally true. The most far-seeing Armenian politicians, including Armenia's first president, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, understand this and have repeatedly stated that Armenia has no future without the resolution of the Karabakh conflict and normalization of ties with Baku and Ankara.
"But as a nation, Armenians have been so blinded by the century-long ideology of revenge against Turks and Azerbaijanis that they are unable to view the situation rationally and to give up the unrealistic territorial claims. Therefore, Armenians en masse display their stubbornness and individually vote with their feet against the official policy - hundreds of thousands of people leave Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh and emigrate to the West and Russia."
