Relations between Azerbaijan and Russia quickly develop. The two countries have signed more than 100 documents, and some of them concerns military cooperation.

These documents have created strong legal base for all-round development of mutual relations, stated Ziyafet Asgarov, the first deputy of chairman of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic, the chairman of parliamentary committee on security and defense, at the meeting with delegation led by the vice-president of committee of the Federation Council of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on defense and security Victor Maslov.

Ziyafet Asgarov noted that Azerbaijan successfully cooperates with Russia in military-defense sphere. A bright example for that is joint use of the Gabala RLS which is the property of Azerbaijan.

Informing on activity of the Milli Majlis (Parliament), the adopted laws, and also on the bill of the state budget which has been taken out on voting on October 22, Mr. Asgarov said that defense expenses have considerably grown in the budget. He underlined that it is connected with occupation of the Azerbaijani lands by Armenia, and therefore, the increase in military expenses in the budget should be perceived normally.

“All should know that Azerbaijan will solve the Nagorno-Karabakh problem anyway. We won`t allow formations on the Azerbaijani lands of the second Armenian state. We consider that, in turn, Russia as the co-chair of the OSCE MG which are engaged directly in settlement of the conflict, should tell the definitive word about necessity to put an end to the Armenian occupation", the chairman of committee emphasized.

The head of the Russian delegation Victor Maslov told that he is the fifth day in Azerbaijan, and for this period a number of important and fruitful meetings in Gabala and Baku have been held. He noted that Azerbaijan has highly developed economy. Baku becomes nicer and nicer. The Russian side also is interested in development of relations with Azerbaijan. Mutual visits, bilateral meetings are for this purpose extremely important. Victor Maslov underlined that Russia supports peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the frame of territorial integrity of the states.
