Nalbandian: The Presidents Gave Instructions to The FMs To Try To Reach An Agreement

Minister Edward Nalbandian said the meeting of Russian, Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents in Astrakhan was important and useful, Novosti-Armenia agency reported.

 

Minister noted that it was the seventh meeting held on the initiative of Dmitry Medvedev within the recent two years.

 

Edwad Nalbandian said the presidents had discussed the details of the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He said they had reaffirmed commitment to the provisions of the Maiendorf declaration and noted the importance of taking extra measures for political, diplomatic solution to the conflict in order to ensure mutual confidence and strengthen the ceasefire regime. 

Minister said an agreement had been reached on exchanging prisoners of war and the bodies of the dead, on acting in accordance with it in future. 

“The presidents gave instructions to the foreign ministers to continue the negotiations, and try to reach agreement on the basic principles before the OSCE summit in Astana,” he said.
