Tuna Beklevic, leader of the Powerful Turkey Party (GTP), has been detained in the Armenian capital of Yerevan, GTP said on Friday.

Beklevic and accompanying GTP members have been detained by Armenian secret service agents following their meeting with the press in Yerevan, GTP said in a statement.

On October 10, one full year after the signing of protocols between Turkey and Armenia - a move to normalize relations, Beklevic had crossed the border between Turkey and Armenia through the Arpacay River in protest of closed border, the GTP statement said.

Beklevic travelled to Yerevan once again on Thursday to hold a press conference, it added.
