Azerbaijan should participate in the talks practically rather than formally.
“Important developments in the process of settlement of the Karabakh issue took place in Astrakhan on October 27, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at the Indian Council of Foreign Relations.
“At the initiative of the President of the Russian President, the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan met to discuss the process of settlement of the Karabakh issue. The parties issued a joint statement following the meeting, which states that it is necessary to take additional steps for the establishment of mutual trust in the military sphere and reinforcement of the ceasefire regime. As a first step the parties agreed to exchange the prisoners and the bodies of the killed,” Minister Nalbandian stated.
“We started implementing the agreement following the meeting in Astrakhan. It’s a pity that Azerbaijan used even this exchange to mislead its public,” he added.
“During a special ceremony organized on this occasion on November 7, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev once again declared about the willingness to solve the Karabakh issue in a military way. The Azerbaijani soldier, who had killed five Armenians and injured three, was treated as a hero,” Minister Nalbandian said.
“The wounds of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan have not yet been healed, while Baku is preparing for a new adventurism, and the oil dollars are being spent on preparation of a new military provocation.
If Azerbaijan wishes to find a solution to the Karabakh issue, it should participate in the negotiations within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group practically rather than formally,” he said.
