E-mail Print PDF

According to “Ermenihaber.am” news publication, President of Turkey Abdullah Gul answered to reporters’ questions while flying back from Turkmenistan.

Turkish President answered a few questions on Armenian-Turkish theme, which you can find below.

-Currently we’re flying over Armenia’s airspace. There are certain obstacles in ties with Armenia. But still, do you have any hope with the normalization of relations?

- I’ve mentioned it in Mejlis also. Today’s de facto status is beneficial for neither side. If cooperation, settlement of problems were alternative economic cooperation would raise. Within a short period of time there would be a blast in Caucasus. Neither side gains being deprived of it. A good start kicked off by my letter.

- Will you take another initiative?

- Be sure, we’re trying to. We have things to do with Caucasus. It’s one of the things. I give recommendations to the officials. We always communicate with Sargsyan, Aliyev, Putin and Medvedev. The issue is still of top priority. The psychological barrier is overcome.

- Does Russia have any contribution?

- I suppose the issue will be solved. The process isn’t in deadlock.
