The peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict has no alternative”, said the honorary president of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Chairman of the Board of the International Institute for Peace Research in Stockholm Goran Lannmarker at a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.
The two sides discussed in detail the prospects of cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, according to the news service of Foreign Ministry of the republic.
At the request of the guest, the Armenian Foreign Minister presented the latest developments in negotiations to settle the Karabakh problem.
Normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey is important for Europe, said Lennmarker.
"It's important to you, for them, for Europe", he said on Friday at a two-day conference "European Perspectives in the Eastern Partnership and in the process of negotiating an association agreement between the EU and Armenia."
Lennmarker noted that two years ago in September 2008 he watched the football match between Armenia and Turkey, and believed that it was a lot of progress.
"Two countries that had a very difficult story decided to start implementing a process together. I think the most important is the consideration of their own common history ", said Lennmarker.
At the same time, he noted that he is going to express a similar stance in Turkey and underlined that at the national level there are people there who want to continue this process.
