Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has received the EU's special representative for the South Caucasus, Peter Semneby.
They discussed Armenia-EU relations and regional developments, the presidential press service told Armenian Public Radio.
The EU envoy has just paid two visits to Azerbaijan, where he met Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on 26 November and President Ilham Aliyev on the 22nd.
The envoy's shuttle diplomacy comes as the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, mediating a settlement to the Karabakh conflict, have been in Baku and Yerevan.
The co-chairs are thought to be working on some kind of agreement that might be reached by the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents on the sidelines of the OSCE summit in Astana on 1 and 2 December. Details of a potential agreement or statement have not been made public.
Arriving in Baku on 26 November, Semneby welcomed the increased activity ahead of the summit. "I do not want to discuss details of discussions just before the meeting in Astana. This is a sensitive moment in negotiations," he said.
