Ministry does not comment the diplomatic correspondence of another state.
Armenian Defense Ministry has refused to confirm or refuse the secret information, released on Wikileaks that in 2003 mediated by Armenia Iran purchased rockets and guns which were then used against the US troops in Iraq.
”In 2003 Armenia assisted to Iran in purchasing of rockets and guns. This weapon was used by Shiite militants in Iraq in 2007 during two attacks against US servicemen, in the result of which a US serviceman was killed and six more were injured”, according to the document. “The direct participation of the Armenian high ranking officials and the fact that the weapon was used in attacks against the US soldiers attach a special and a very alarming nature to this story. The relevant US structures can take cases of arms transfer as a ground to impose sanctions”.
Spokesman for the Armenian defense Ministry David Karapetyan told Azatutyun radio station that the Ministry does not comment the diplomatic correspondence of another state.
The spokesman for the Armenian president Arman Arzumanyan also refused to comment on this information referring to this. So did the spokesman for the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
Asked whether Armenia’s mediation in arms transfer was really possible, Karapetyan said: “If there are facts, I think this is not the way the public was to learn this. The society could have been informed about it”. “It contains accusations which offers other procedures. If there some problems, let them come out. We do not comment”, Karapetyan said.
