OSCE bases on the fact that at this stage Armenia should withdraw its troops from at least five occupied regions of Azerbaijan.
Senior officer of the Jamestown foundation (Washington) Vladimir Socor noted that the OSCE Minsk Group is against discussions of the definition of the status of Nagorno Karabakh as for the resolution of the Karabakh conflict.
While commenting on the current state of the negotiation process at the Strategic Research Center of Azerbaijan, Socor noted that the OSCE bases on the fact that at this stage Armenia should withdraw its troops from at least five occupied regions of Azerbaijan.
“According to the position of the OSCE Minsk Group and the international community, the discussion of the future status of Nagorno Karabakh will be possible only after that”, Socor said.
Vladimir Socor also commented on the reasons and implications of the appearance of confidential diplomatic correspondence on WikiLeaks and then in different mass media.
He believes that the information leak from the US state bodies is a frustrating fact since it damages the image of the United States and the administration.
As for some documents, published on the website in which allegedly Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev spoke about the foreign policy of neighbor countries: Russia, Turkey and Iran, Socor noted that “even if there were such statements, it would be possible to say that the Azerbaijani leader has demonstrated himself as a good diplomat, competent in foreign policy”.
Socor also noted that the materials on WikiLeaks show that Azerbaijan has a clear position on the resolution of the Karabakh conflict.
“It becomes clear that the status of Nagorno Karabakh is really not the subject of discussions on the level of the OSCE Minsk Group and international community. Azerbaijan’s position is clear and has no two meanings”, Socor said.
