Russia is playing an important role in the resolution of problems in the Caucasus.
"I met with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan", Turkish President Abdullah Gul told Turkish journalists in Astana, according to Anadolu, saying at the meeting he and Sargsyan asked each other about the state of health.
At the meeting with Turkish journalists Gul referred to his meeting with Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev within the framework of the OSCE summit and said that at the meeting the sides discussed the current state in the Caucasus.
Saying Russia is playing an important role in the resolution of problems in the Caucasus, the Turkish president noted that the current state does not meet the interests of Armenia, Turkey, Russia or Azerbaijan.
Referring to the Armenian-Turkish relations, the Turkish president said they continue works in this direction.
"We are determined. Difficult problems are not settled by one step. Huge work is needed and we are working", Gul said.
