E-mail Print PDF

US Ambassador to Armenia expressed confidence that US-Armenian relations are strengthening despite disclosure of documents by WikiLeaks.

The Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch considers that US relations with partner states are strong enough to stand this test. These relations can be continued and strengthened. Yovanovitch is confident that this also refers to Armenia – a county having close and strong ties with US.

US condemns any illegal publication of information. It is a threat to national security of the United States and jeopardizes efforts taken while working with its allies, partners and friends, she added.

US is carrying out huge work on security, policy and economy related to foreign policy agenda. Threats to country’s national security means US partners are threatened as well, she concluded, RFE/RL reported.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, the Guardian referring to WikiLeaks website published a strong-worded letter (as of December 24, 2008) by the US high ranking official addressed to the Armenian government. In this letter the US threatens with sanctions unless Armenia stops transportation of weapons to Iran through its territory resulted in a killing of American soldiers in Iraq.
