Turkey Takes First Steps To Create Alliance Of Kur River Countries

Turkey’s Economy Minister Nihat Ergun together governor of Ardahan Mustafa Tekmen laid the foundation of new industrial zone in Ardahan province.

According to Turkish Medya 73, at the groundbreaking ceremony Minister Ergun also appealed to Georgia and Azerbaijan with a call to take part in the implementation of this project.

He said in some time Ardahan will become a center of investments and industry of the region, since it is a very important section in the global project of the Great Silk Way.

Earlier in Baku, the governor of the Turkish frontier province Ardahan Mustafa Tekmen proposed to create the Alliance of Kur countries, that is the alliance of Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan-three countries from where Kur, the biggest river of the region, is flowing. The creation of this industrial center in Ardagan is told to be the first step on creation of such a union.

According to specialists, after implementation of the project of construction of the railway communication Baku-Tbilisi-Kars and creation of industrial zone in Ardahan, and then in Nakhchivan with the further involvement of Iran will create conditions for strengthening regional cooperation,

This alliance was called ‘anti-Armenia’ in Armenia, which remains isolated from most regional projects for political motives.
