US Deputy Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Gordon at a briefing in Washington commented on the results of the OSCE summit.

Stating that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict was also among the issues discussed on the summit, the diplomat gave a positive assessment to the joint statement of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and the conflict parties regarding the conflict. Gordon also expressed US concert over cases of violation of ceasefire on the front line.

'This is a dangerous situation therefore we are working to attain a progress based on Helsinki principles'.

He did not agree that the United States seem passive on the background of intensification of Russia’s role as a mediator in talks. The United States, like Russia, want to see the conflict settled on the basis of the main principles coordinated by the OSCE Minsk Group. He added that he and his colleagues often contact the conflict parties.

State Secretary Clinton, who visited Azerbaijan and Armenia in July of this year, is constantly informed on this issue and closely observing the situation. The United States will take an active part in negotiations due to the importance of the conflict settlement.
