The Armenian-occupied Zangilan region is settled by families from Syria and Armenia.
The half-destroyed houses of Azerbaijani villages and economies of the resettled people are seen from the materials posted on the website of the Armenian service of Liberty radio.
In addition, Armenian families in Zangilan state that the Armenian authorities promised to help them. Meanwhile, Armenians who moved here from the Middle East agree to stay here even in the absence of the support from the Armenian government due to the fruitful soils and the favorable climate of the district.
In turn, spokesman for Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Elkhan Polukhov told ANS TV that the report of the OSCE Assessment Mission on the situation in the territories around Nagorno Karabakh also includes the investigation of the fact of illegal settlements.
“We hope that situation with such facts will be clarified after publication of the report of the assessment mission. I repeat Azerbaijan’s position in this issue remains changeless. These settlements are illegal and can never be settled legal”, he said.
