Interview with Heydar Jemal, chairman of the Islam Committee of Russia, famous political scientist.
Q: Who do you think is responsible for the events in Moscow at the Kremlin on the Manege square on December who, who led the crowds of people, chanting nationalistic slogans and beating the persons of Caucasian ethnic?
A: This situation which started with the murder of 28-year-old football fan Yegor Sviridov and continued not only with the events on the Manege square and further, is the script of definine political powers in Russia, interested in destabilizing the situation in the country, pogroms with possible reaching the verge of the civil war to thus discredit opponents and force the country arrange early presidential elections in Russia. In addition, I would like to remind that there were Armenians among the fans, including Sviridov, which got involved in the incident with a group of young people from the North Caucasus. This is not a purely Slavic action, like some present it to be, this is an international action containing the Armenian element. The Armenian factor in the events can be stated definitely and the proof is that today one of the Armenians, associated with the episode with Sviridov is currently at the hospital.
Q: Is it a coincidence?
A: I am sure, not. It is not the first year that Armenians occupy the key posts in the Russian leadership, including its law enforcement bodies, while the law enforcement structures have been leading the fan movement, which is quite controlled by the structure, including provocateurs, since the Soviet times.
Q: Which motives doe the Armenian side, involved in this bloody provocation, adheres to?
A: These actions are caused by the striving to incite the conflict with the Muslim North Caucasus, deepening confrontation between Russia and the Islamic world, including within Russia, which, according to Armenia’s plans, must force official Moscow to support Armenia stiffly in its conflict with Azerbaijan around Nagorno Karabakh.
Q: Do you think there will be new victims in confrontation?
A: I think the powers which organized the current protest intend to lead the case to pogroms. Now Internet is filled with information that Caucasians are allegedly gathering to settle with the football fans and other forces, involved in actions on Manege. This information is spread on purpose to keep skins, nationalists and football fans strained. The final end of this confrontation is the attempt to involve not only youth but also adults.
