No Turkish schools will be founded in Armenia as a result of the proposed amendments providing for opening foreign language schools in the country, Armenia’s Minister of Education Armen Ashotyan says in an interview with an Armenian newspaper.
"We definitely do not plan to open Turkish schools. The knowledge of Turkish as a foreign language is important for our region, and the problem can be resolved on the professional education level," he says.
The minister further says that students in secondary schools will be given a chance to learn a third language, and in that connection added that one of the educational centers in Armenia – Hayaspet – is going to introduce Turkish as a third language.
He also says that the ministry plans to re-specialize one of the high schools in teaching foreign langauges (English, German and probably, Turkish) on adavanced level.
"We are obliged to upgrade the language teaching level in ll educational institutions," Ashotyan says.
