“War is the direct antithesis of the notions of dialogue, consensus and peacekeeping”
The statement came from Azerbaijan’s ambassador Polad Bulbuloglu.
According to the official website for the Azerbaijani embassy in Russia, a two-day International public forum 'Role of people’s diplomacy in development of international humanitarian cooperation' opened in Moscow on December 16.
Stressing the importance of addressing people’s diplomacy issue, he at the same time paid attention to its sharpness and urgency. 'In the past 20 years, our young sovereign countries and we ourselves have become different, on the one hand, separate, sovereign and more close and on the other hand, more tolerant and open for peace. New time teaches us to be the citizens without isolating in our national flats.
But I had to note that our people find it not easy to understand the commonness of interests and destinies. It is gained by way of conflicts, whose heavy burden continues today. Almost all the post-Soviet area turned to be involved into geopolitical clashes, damaging national interests and sowing lack of confidence about the future.
Nagorno Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan remains the most protracted of them, Bulbul said further. I believe the bitter lessons of the Karabakh war, which became the main detonator of the USSR collapse 20 years ago, are exemplary for all levels of discussions about dialogue and partnership, since war itself is the direct antithesis of the concepts of dialogue, accord and peacekeeping.
This war has not given any dividends to anyone person, including its supporters. On the contrary, it became a factor of deep distrust and ethnic differences in the South Caucasus, sowing the feeling of legal and physical helplessness among people. However, we all have just one life and equal rights'.
