Turkish Foreign Minister phones US Secretary of State Clinton regarding an Armenian resolution.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu phoned his US counterpart Hillary Clinton on Friday and requested from the US administration to become part of an effort to defeat an Armenian resolution that may be brought to the agenda of the US House of Representatives.
According to diplomatic sources, Davutoglu reminded Clinton about the seriousness of the resolution.
Davutoglu, during his phone conversation, emphasized that the US administration should step in to defeat a possible Armenian resolution in the US House of Representatives.
Clinton, in return, told Davutoglu that the US administration gave importance to Turkish-US relations and that they would make every effort so that an Armenian resolution should not be placed on the agenda of the US House of Representatives.
Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, may bring an Armenian resolution to the agenda of the House in 48 hours, sources said.
An Armenian resolution was accepted by the Foreign Relations Committee of the US House of Representatives by a vote of 23 against 22 last March.
