Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry makes statement over firing of positions.

Despite the recently reached agreements on preservation of ceasefire regime, the Armenian armed forces continue their provocations, according to a statement from the news service for the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan, News.Az reports.

“The shell launched by the enemy at 21.30 on December 17, again raised tensions on the front. Investigation showed that the enemy launched a reactive shell of 122 mm in caliber from VM-21 facility from their positions 2.5 kilometers west to Talish settlement of Terter and it hit the Borsunlu settlement controlled by the Azerbaijani armed forces”, the statement reads.

The document says that the shell was allegedly launched from 15-16 kilometers. Observations of the traces of the shell could be held thanks to the darkness. The sound of explosion was heard in the adjacent settlements, no casualties are reported.

“Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry states that at the time when the situation over the negotiation process on Nagorno Karabakh is strained, the rude violation of ceasefire by the Armenian armed forces will not have positive effect”, the statement reads.
