Armenian-Russian Missile Defense Command Point Opens In Armenia

Joint command point of missile defense opened in Armenia.

The joint command point of missile defense opened in Armenia within the framework of cooperation between the air defense troops of the Armenian armed forces and the 102nd Russian military base, dislocated in the country, according to the news service for the Armenian Defense ministry.

The joint command point, opened a day ago, can fix the threat on air borders by means of the ultramodern equipment with a high accuracy and regulate the air target hitting. Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan attended the opening ceremony.

“While stressing the importance of the opening of the joint command point of air defense, Ohanyan said this is a qualitatively new level of military cooperation between Armenia and Russia, proving the strategic nature of relations between the two countries”, the statement says.

The Armenian Defense Minister also took part in the opening ceremony of army buildings of one of the military units of missile defense of the armed forces of the country, familiarized with conditions in military units and the activity of high-accuracy anti-aircraft systems S-300.

In addition, Ohanyan visited one of the enterprises of military industry and familiarized with the conditions of the new department for repair of military aircrafts.
