Hurriyet: Opening Of Border With Turkey Is More Crucial For Yerevan Than “Genocide” Resolution

E-mail Print PDF
The opening of the Armenian-Turkish border is currently more crucial for Armenia than the adoption of the Armenian resolution by the US House, says the Turkish daily Hurriyet, referring to possible outcomes of the adoption of the “genocide” resolution (H. Res. 252) by the US House, Tert.am reported.

"Therefore, Yerevan can take a deep breath, in case the Armenian resolution is not adopted and the crisis sparked among Armenia, Turkey and the United States by that resolution is overcome," reads the article.

It says that Turkey may simply suspend the normalization process with Armenia, in case the resolution is adopted or serious steps are taken for the purpose.

"And that will result in a postponement of the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border for an indefinite period," Hurriyet says, adding that the opening of the border is of significant importance to Armenia that suffers economic hardships.

In case the Armenian Resolution is not adopted by the US House, according to the article, Armenia will take counter actions, which is quite normal.
