2010 became the year of the implications of the failed football diplomacy on the resolution of the Armenian-Turkish relations in 2009.
Member of the parliamentary faction of the Armenian Dashnaktsutun revolutionary federation Armen Rustamyan considers the internal and foreign policy, conducted by the authorities in 2010, to be failed.
Representative of the supreme body of Dashnaktsutun Armen Rustamyan said 2010 became the year of the implications of the failed football diplomacy on the resolution of the Armenian-Turkish relations in 2009.
According to Rustamyan, the only positive moment this year is the resolution of the Constitutional Court of Armenia on Armenian-Turkish protocols adopted in early January. These protocols legally indicated and substantiated all those fears raised by the ‘No’ protest movement.
“This was followed only by partial steps, even if positive tendencies were recorded, they were implemented partially and could not give the desired effect. In particular, this was followed by the decision of the president to suspend the ratification process of the Armenian-Turkish protocols and we considered that by thus we have made a great step, while in the reality we suspended the process that Turkey had suspended long before and in fact either willfully or not, we got involved in the Turkish script”, Rustamyan said.
As for the negotiation process on the Karabakh, Rustamyan, on the one hand, welcomed the publication of the Madrid principles, which made the negotiation process public and, on the other hand, considered them unprofitable for the Armenian side.
“These principles have in fact defined the further process in the direction of the resolution of the Karabakh issue but defined it in the direction, which is absolutely unprofitable because no one can show at least one profitable thing in these principle, except that we always say that three principles are set on the same space: territorial integrity, rights of nations for self-determination and nonuse of force, no other points are profitable to us, they are more profitable of Azerbaijan”, Rustamyan said.
