Azerbaijani MP Rasim Musabeyov has commented on the political outcomes of 2010 for Azerbaijan and the region and shared his forecasts for 2011 on this issue.
'I assess the completion of the delimitation process of the Russian-Azerbaijani border and signing due documents on the high level between our countries as successful', political scientist Musabeyov said.
'As for the resolution of the Karabakh conflict, unfortunately, there was no real progress and the only hope is that in 2011 we will manage to bring the peace solution to the issue closer. There are grounds and hopes for this. Otherwise, Azerbaijan has already sent its message to the world community by doubling the military budget of the country and making it clear that aggressor Armenia will not manage to further protract the negotiations', the political scientist said.
'I think Matthew Bryza's recent appointment as the US ambassador in Azerbaijan will also help intensify the US role in the resolution of the Karabakh conflict and take an active part in other regional processes. The appointment of the ambassador in Azerbaijan will primarily be of use for the United States and their interests in the region', Musabeyov said.
